About the Artists

The installation includes many eyes of Stuyvesant students. In addition, Jones and Ginzel have worked at CS 102 in The Bronx and are the creators of Metronome, the huge "artwall" at Union Square with steam and a 24-hour clock. In New York City, Jones and Ginzel have created many temporary public art installations at sites such as the "Old" 42nd Street, The Brooklyn Bridge Anchorage P.S. 1 Museum, the New Museum and in City Hall Park (a few blocks away from Stuyvesant).

Kristin Jones and Andrew Ginzel have worked collaboratively since 1985 on many commissioned private and public projects as well as museum and gallery exhibitions internationally. Their recent major works encompass a variety of locations such as the Kansas City and Tampa airports, the Tiber River in Rome, and public buildings in Chicago, Columbus and St. Louis.

Nationally, the artists have exhibited at the Chicago Cultural Center, the Madison Art Center, the List Visual Arts Center at MIT, the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Internationally, their exhibitions include major works at the Aquario Romano in Rome, the Kunsthalle in Basel Switzerland, the Museo D'Arte Contemporanea in Prato, Italy, and the Trienalle in New Delhi, India.

The artists have been commissioned to build numerous major permanent works, each entirely different from the next, and each completely integrated into its environment.
Locally, in the homeland of Stuyvesant High School, is the work Oculus, a series of mosaic eyes in the nearby A, C, E subway stations of Chambers Street, Park Place and World Trade Center.

Jones and Ginzel have received awards from the Rockefeller Foundation at Bellagio, The Pollock-Krasner Foundation and The Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation.
Their work Adytum for Creative Time received a Bessie award. The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded them two Fellowships for Sculpture. Jones and Ginzel were the first co-winners of the Rome Prize.
