INTERESTING FACTS
On December 7, 1941, Japanese planes attack the American Military base at Pearl Harbor and the U.S. enters World War II.
In 1940-1941, the Stuyvesant Training Corps is reorganized; During World War II, more than 250 members participate in air raid drills and reviews.
In 1942, SHS was designated as an air raid shelter. In cooperation with the Aeronautical Society, students collect model airplanes for use in the civil defense plane-identification program. W2CLE, the "ham" radio station, the first in any high school, is ordered off the air by the FCC to better track down enemy broadcasts originating in the U.S.
